Supporting American Heart Month

by | Feb 7, 2017 | Nursing Excellence

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, killing an estimated 630,000 Americans annually. Heart disease can often be prevented through healthy choices and management of health conditions. Communities including health professionals and families can work together to create opportunities for people to make healthier choices.

February is American Heart Month. For years, while working within a healthcare institution, I participated in many, many heart walks, provided education to the community and assisted in educational seminars to promote healthy life style changes. When I joined the HealthLinx team, I sought out opportunities within the community to participate and provide education.

Go Red For Women

Our Nursing Excellence Team continues to support American Heart Month in many ways. National Wear Red Day, February 3, 2017, supports the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women campaign messaging that heart disease is not only a man’s problem.

Please take the opportunity to share this message and the unique ways you and your organization support your community during American Heart Month – February 2017.
