Successful Magnet Redesignation – Case #4445
The HealthLinx Outcome Driven Process was implemented with a Nursing Assessment and Plan (NEAP) in April 2014. Strengths, Opportunities, and Risks were identified.
In June 2014 the Nursing Excellence Project Management Plan (NEPM) was developed and implemented, outlining a focused effort moving forward to Magnet redesignation document submission on April 1, 2015. This ten-month plan included determining examples, writing, content editing, copy editing, and publishing the electronic document.
- 3-Day Writing Launch, SOE Review, and SOE Alignment June 2014
- 2-Day SOE Writers Intensive July 2014
- 2-Day SOE Writers Intensive September 2014
The document was submitted on time on April 1, 2014.
Based on the nursing excellence assessment for writing the redesignation document, unresolved gaps were identified. Several SOEs were identified as at risk for not scoring excellent in ANCC appraisal. An ongoing plan for further development of nursing excellence was put in place to proactively strengthen weak or underperforming areas.
This organization was notified in June 2015 that their document was accepted and they would go straight to site visit. The appraisers requested additional evidence for five SOEs, to be available on the first day of the site visit in September 2015.
